Preferences Overview

The Preferences Dialog offers you a wide range of control over how Medit-8™ looks and how it works with you. The choices are spread over four tab sheets, arranged by function – Appearance, Reminders, Privacy and Options. You can call up the Preferences Dialog from the Command Center, either from the File Menu, or by selecting it from the options on the Command Center’s Popup Menu.

The Appearance Tab Sheet contains controls that let you determine the overall "look" of all Medit-8 windows and dialogs. For more information, see Changing Medit-8 Skins and Enhancing Medit-8 Backgrounds.

The Reminders Tab Sheet includes controls for specifying the way and when reminders are triggered, and the action taken when a trigger occurs. For more information on scheduling reminders, see Setting Periodic Reminders, Creating/Editing a Reminder Schedule, and Playing Sounds with Reminders.

The Privacy Tab Sheet lets you set up some basic password protection that will help keep your writings private. For more information, see Adding Password Protection.

The Options Tab Sheet contains a list of miscellaneous options from which you can choose, including automatically starting Medit-8, 12- or 24-hour time display format, and automatically checking for updates. For more information, see Selecting Miscellaneous Options.
